Archipelago Adventures of Sitka Alaska provides fully guided boat based and fly-in hunts for Sitka Blacktail Deer and Waterfowl. We have a variety of hunts available to suit different levels of experience and physical condition. Our hunting area covers portions of Baranof and Chichigof Islands in Unit 4 of Southeast Alaska. This area has the highest population density of Sitka Black-tails in the world. We maximize your chances for success by hunting areas that have little hunting pressure and by strategically timing the hunts to take advantage of natural migration patterns of the deer.

We hunt early August for bucks in velvet, and late August for hard horn bucks. During this hunt we fly into a high mountain lake and hunt the alpine ridges and peaks. This hunt is physically challenging and also very rewarding. While you are here we invite you to take advantage of the spectacular saltwater fishing available this time of year. The early November hunt is based around the peak of the rut, at this time of year the bucks have moved down into the lower elevations and respond well to a fawn bleat. This hunt commonly requires moderate hiking depending on snow levels. By late November and early December the snow usually pushes the deer down near sea level where they can be spotted on the beach from a skiff. This hunt is generally low impact and is a good choice for the deer hunter with limited physical capabilities.
